Ameet Deshpande
PhD researcher
Princeton University
Ameet Deshpande is a Princeton NLP PhD researcher advised by Karthik Narasimhan and a co-author of the GEO paper and GEO-bench. His wider research spans AI safety, data-efficient algorithms, efficient architectures, and multilingual NLP, after a B.Tech from IIT Madras.
From IIT Madras to Princeton
Deshpande completed a B.Tech at IIT Madras, working on reinforcement learning with Balaraman Ravindran and NLP with Mitesh M. Khapra and Sutanu Chakraborti. He then moved to Princeton for a Ph.D. in computer science with Karthik Narasimhan.
His personal site lists research interests in AI safety, data-efficient algorithms, efficient NLP architectures, and multilingual NLP. He also writes about teaching as a core part of the job.
Co-authoring the GEO Paper
As a GEO co-author he helped define visibility metrics for generative engines and the evaluation setup behind GEO-bench. The paper's framing is creator-side: when models synthesize answers, publishers need methods and benchmarks.
Princeton affiliation on the preprint places him beside Murahari and Narasimhan on the academic side of the collaboration that also included independent researchers and IIT Delhi.
Life Outside Research
He has noted being on the job market while finishing the PhD. Outside research he lists golf, football, tennis, and piano.
