What GEO Costs in 2026
We studied pricing from all the agencies that published it to compile this report.
Updated August 27, 2026
We went looking for public prices. Most agencies do not put a number on the website. They ask you to get in touch, usually through a form or a sales calendar, and they talk about scope after that conversation. That is ordinary for professional services.
Eight agencies do publish some kind of monthly figure, and that is the set we used. A few of those figures are starting prices on a plan. A couple are floors or minimums: the page says you should expect to spend at least this much, without listing a plan you can click.
The dollar amount is not a complete description of the work. One firm's $3,000 a month is an SEO retainer that now mentions AI search. Another's $3,000 a month is software plus a small pile of content. A PR shop's $12,000 a month is earned media with GEO folded in. We kept those differences in the table under the chart instead of pretending there is one GEO price.

What A Monthly Retainer Can Include
If you only compare starting prices, $3,000 a month looks like $3,000 a month. It is not. The number on the invoice does not tell you whether you are buying an SEO team that has started talking about AI search, a software seat plus a handful of assets, or a slice of a much larger content and PR program. That is why we would not tell a company to shop this market on the starting figure alone.
Embarque's $3,000 neighborhood, if you move off its $1,500 start and toward the middle of its published plans, is still an SEO retainer that includes an AI SEO strategy. The people, the content, and the reporting are the SEO shop's. AI search is in the plan. WebFX Bronze, at $3,000 a month, is a different purchase. You are buying their software, 50 prompts run across 10 models, and a small set of assets, on a six-month commitment. You can see the two ends of that ladder on the chart below. LoudFace, Omniscient Digital, and Crackle PR sit higher on the scatter because the published starts are higher, and because the work those starts describe is a fuller program: Autopilot retainers for B2B SaaS, full-service SEO plus GEO plus content, or PR with GEO folded in. A $3,000 slice of one of those programs, if a buyer ever negotiated one, would not be the same 50-prompt software seat, and it would not be Embarque's SEO plan either. We do not have a published $3,000 SKU from those three firms. We are saying the comparison is unsafe if you ignore what the month actually contains.
What companies are trying to buy, under all of those shapes, is still a ranking. GEO is a ranking problem. The ranking that now decides whether a buyer sees you, when they ask ChatGPT or Gemini or Google who to hire, is your position in the AI-generated commercial recommendation, not only your position in the blue links under an Overview. Classic Google rankings still matter, because most visits to company websites still come from Google. They are no longer the whole job the retainer is meant to cover. Citations, when an engine shows them, are how some recommendations display a source. They are not a substitute for ranking in the recommendation itself.
These two bars are the published ends of WebFX's AI SEO SKU ladder as of the August 27, 2026 fetch. Bronze is $3,000 a month for 50 prompts across 10 LLMs. Enterprise+ is $68,250 a month for 2,000 prompts. Global Enterprise+ is a quote, and the middle SKUs are unpublished here. The plans carry a six-month commitment.
| SKU | Monthly USD | Prompts | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | $3,000 | 50 | 50 prompts x 10 LLMs |
| Enterprise+ | $68,250 | 2000 | 2,000 prompts |
What The Tracking Software Costs
Separate from retainers, there is a set of software products that charge you to track prompts and models: whether a brand shows up in AI-generated commercial recommendations, on which engines, and how often. That is not the same purchase as hiring people to write pages, place stories, or change the technical shape of a site so a model ranks you. A company can buy the software without buying the work, and some do. The prices below are what the vendors published on August 27, 2026. They are not equivalent products. They do not include the same engines. They are not agency retainers.
Otterly Lite is $29 a month. Peec Starter is $80 if you pay annually. Profound Starter is $99 a month. Semrush AI Visibility is $99 per domain. Ahrefs Brand Radar starts from $199. Scrunch Core is $250. AthenaHQ Starter is $295. Goodie Explorer is $399. Profound Growth is $399. Otterly Premium is $489. Evertune Pro is $800. That list is the public entry (and, for Profound and Otterly, a second published tier) as of the fetch. A $29 tool and an $800 tool are not doing the same job, and we did not average them.
Some of those vendors also publish how many prompts you get. Otterly sells 15, 100, and 400 prompts at $29, $189, and $489. Peec sells 50, 150, and 350 prompts at $80, $205, and $420 on annual billing. Profound sells 50 and 100 prompts at $99 and $399. Goodie Explorer includes 100 prompts at $399. Scrunch Core includes 125 prompts at $250. We plotted those pairs as a strip of points, not as a trend line. A line would imply that price rises smoothly with prompt count across vendors. It does not, because the plans do not include the same engines, the same locations, or the same definition of a prompt. Peec's dollars are annual. Otterly's $189 tier is a middle plan, not an entry plan. Treating them as one curve would be a cleaner chart and a worse description of the market.
Ahrefs also sells custom-prompt packs that are not a monthly retainer. A $50 pack is 2,500 checks. A $100 pack is 7,000 checks. A $250 pack is 25,000 checks. If you run past the pack, extra checks cost $0.020, $0.015, or $0.010 each, depending on the pack. One check is one prompt, on one LLM, in one location. That is a useful way to understand why a "prompt" in one vendor's plan is not a prompt in another's. We included the packs because buyers who are already in Ahrefs will see them next to Brand Radar, not because they are a GEO agency fee.
Each bar is a published entry price from an official pricing page fetched on August 27, 2026. The products are not equivalent: they do not cover the same engines or the same definition of a prompt. Semrush AI Visibility is $99 per domain. Ahrefs Brand Radar starts from $199. Peec Starter is an annual price. None of these figures is an agency retainer.
| Product | Published entry USD / month (or annual where noted) |
|---|---|
| Otterly Lite | $29 |
| Peec Starter (annual) | $80 |
| Profound Starter | $99 |
| Semrush AI Visibility | $99 |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar from | $199 |
| Scrunch Core | $250 |
| AthenaHQ Starter | $295 |
| Goodie Explorer | $399 |
| Profound Growth | $399 |
| Otterly Premium | $489 |
| Evertune Pro | $800 |
Each point is a vendor that published both a price and a prompt count on August 27, 2026. We did not draw a trend line because the plans do not include the same engines, and a line would imply a single relationship that the pages do not support. Peec prices are annual. Otterly's middle tier is $189 for 100 prompts.
| Product | Included prompts | Published USD |
|---|---|---|
| Otterly Lite | 15 | $29 |
| Otterly (100 prompts) | 100 | $189 |
| Otterly Premium | 400 | $489 |
| Peec Starter | 50 | $80 |
| Peec (150 prompts) | 150 | $205 |
| Peec (350 prompts) | 350 | $420 |
| Profound Starter | 50 | $99 |
| Profound Growth | 100 | $399 |
| Goodie Explorer | 100 | $399 |
| Scrunch Core | 125 | $250 |
Ahrefs sells custom-prompt packs for tracking brand visibility in AI assistants. A $50 pack is 2,500 checks, a $100 pack is 7,000 checks, and a $250 pack is 25,000 checks. One check is one prompt on one LLM in one location. Extra checks cost $0.020, $0.015, or $0.010 depending on the pack.
| Pack | Checks | Overage per extra check |
|---|---|---|
| $50 pack | 2,500 | $0.020 |
| $100 pack | 7,000 | $0.015 |
| $250 pack | 25,000 | $0.010 |
What SEO Surveys Show About Adjacent Work
We included SEO surveys in a GEO piece because a lot of GEO is still sold next to SEO. The same people often write the pages, and the same invoice often carries both. If you want to know what companies already pay for that neighborhood of work, the SEO price bands are the neighborhood. They are not a GEO rate card, and we are not going to treat them as one.
GoodFirms surveyed more than 300 agencies in April and May 2026 and published SEO pricing buckets. 43.3 percent of those agencies said they charge under $1,500 a month. 48.0 percent said $1,500-$5,000. 5.5 percent said $5,000 or more. Those three buckets add up to 96.8 percent. The page does not say what happened to the rest, and we did not fill it in. The same GoodFirms page says a GEO or AEO add-on is often $900 or more a month. It also says 52.8 percent of respondents had introduced AI search as a formal service, 31.5 percent bundle it with something else, and 21.3 percent sell it standalone. Those last three shares overlap if you add them. GoodFirms does not explain how a firm could be in more than one group. We left that as the page printed it, rather than forcing the numbers to behave.
Ahrefs polled 439 providers and, on a page last updated August 15, 2024, reported average SEO at $2,917 a month, or $3,209 among agencies. 78.2 percent of respondents sold retainers, 48.9 percent sold projects, and 34.8 percent sold hourly work. Those three percentages also overlap, because a shop can sell more than one shape. The poll is SEO, and it is two years old relative to this piece. We kept it because it is still one of the larger published looks at what SEO providers charge, which is the work GEO is most often sold beside. It is not a 2026 GEO average, and we do not have one of those.
GoodFirms surveyed more than 300 agencies in April and May 2026 and published these SEO pricing buckets. The three shares add to 96.8 percent; the page does not describe the remainder. This is SEO pricing, which we include because GEO is often sold next to SEO, not because it is a GEO rate card. The same page says a GEO or AEO add-on is often $900 or more a month, and that 52.8 percent of respondents introduced AI search as a formal service, 31.5 percent bundle it, and 21.3 percent sell it standalone. Those last three shares are not reconciled on the page.
| Published bucket | Share of surveyed agencies (%) |
|---|---|
| Under $1,500 | 43.3 |
| $1,500-$5,000 | 48.0 |
| $5,000+ | 5.5 |
Ahrefs polled 439 providers and, on a page updated August 15, 2024, reported average SEO of $2,917 a month, or $3,209 among agencies. 78.2 percent sold retainers, 48.9 percent sold projects, and 34.8 percent sold hourly work. Those engagement shares overlap, so they are not exclusive groups. The figures describe SEO, not GEO.
| Group | Average monthly USD | Engagement mix (overlapping) |
|---|---|---|
| All respondents | $2,917 | 78.2% retainer / 48.9% project / 34.8% hourly |
| Agencies | $3,209 | Same poll; mix is for the full 439 |
How Companies Are Buying GEO
Companies are not buying this work in only one way. Some already purchase a dedicated GEO engagement: a separate statement of work, with its own prompt list and its own reporting on ranking in AI-generated commercial recommendations, rather than a line added to an SEO contract. We see enough of that among the shops in this directory to treat it as a real channel. It is not an oddity that only a couple of firms will admit to.
Many other companies still buy the work as part of SEO. The same retainer that used to promise classic rankings now includes, or claims to include, work on ChatGPT, Gemini, and AI Overviews. That can be a serious program. It can also be a sentence on page four of a proposal. The public prices do not tell you which, because most agencies never publish the price at all.
Most agencies still do not put a monthly number on the website. In practice that usually means a sales call. The firm wants to hear the scope, the industry, and the competitive set before it names a fee. That is how most of this category still sells.
We also do not have published performance percentages that turn a retainer into an expected gain in recommendations. The honest picture for a buyer in 2026 is narrower than that. You can see what eight firms were willing to print. You can see that the same dollar buys different work. You can see that some companies already buy GEO on its own, that many still buy it inside SEO, and that most agencies will tell you the rest on a call.
