Promptwatch vs OtterlyAI: 2026 Comparison

Published October 16, 2026

Promptwatch and OtterlyAI are often treated as interchangeable tools for tracking how a brand shows up in AI answers. What many buyers miss is that the better buy depends on how many prompts a team tracks and which AI engines it needs, because the two vendors package those very differently. To see where each one comes out ahead, we put them side by side.

Our analysts compared each vendor's pricing pages, help articles and changelog as of October 2026, then priced three common tracking workloads on each. In the following sections, we compare the two tools on the points buyers weigh most, price the same workloads on each, and show which buyer each one fits.

List prices in US dollars before tax, billed monthly unless the row says otherwise. Workload costs are the cheapest published plan, or plan plus add-ons, that covers the job with daily tracking.

Promptwatch vs OtterlyAI Cost for the Same Workload

OtterlyAI sells some engines as add-ons and Promptwatch caps responses, so the Top GEO Agencies research team priced the same tracking jobs on both. Each workload is tracked daily:

  • One brand with 50 prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, the three engines both vendors include without an add-on.
  • One brand with 100 prompts on those three engines plus Claude.
  • An agency with five client brands of 100 prompts each on the same three engines.

Each cost is the cheapest published plan, or plan plus add-ons, that covers the workload.

Promptwatch vs OtterlyAI monthly cost by workload
  • Promptwatch agency plans are capped by responses. Five brands with 100 prompts on 3 models need 5 x 100 x 3 x 30 = 45,000 responses per month, which only Agency Scale covers.
  • OtterlyAI includes Microsoft Copilot, which Promptwatch does not list. Promptwatch lets a brand pick its four engines from eleven at no extra charge.

Promptwatch or OtterlyAI: Which Fits Which Buyer

The cheaper choice changes with the length of a team's prompt list and the engines it wants tracked.

Choose Promptwatch if

  • You track more than 15 prompts for one brand. It cost $95 per month against $189 for 50 prompts, and $245 against $298 for 100 prompts with Claude added.
  • You want Google AI Mode, Gemini or Claude without paying for add-ons. On OtterlyAI, Claude alone costs up to $439 per month on Premium.
  • You want API and MCP access on the entry plan.
  • You want content tools in the plan: 5 or 10 AI-written articles per month on Professional and Business, and agent credits on every plan.

Choose OtterlyAI if

  • Your prompt list is very short. Lite costs $29 per month for 15 prompts, and Promptwatch's cheapest paid plan is $95.
  • Many people need access. Every plan includes unlimited team members, while Promptwatch includes 1, 2 or 5 seats on brand plans and 10 on agency plans.
  • You run several clients. Five brands at 100 prompts each cost $588 per month on Premium, against $799 on Promptwatch Agency Scale.
  • You want Microsoft Copilot tracked. Promptwatch does not list it.
  • You want site audits: 1,000 GEO URL audits per month on Lite and 10,000 on Premium.

Recent Changes to Promptwatch and OtterlyAI

Both companies updated their plans in 2026, so the dates help readers check whether a price they saw elsewhere still holds.

  • July 7, 2026: Promptwatch made projects and pitch projects unlimited on its agency plans.
  • August 4, 2026: OtterlyAI's help center updated its plan article, listing Lite at 15 prompts, Standard at 100 and Premium at 400, with Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude as paid add-ons.
  • September 9, 2026: Promptwatch opened country-level tracking to every paid plan, including Essential and Professional.
  • September 23, 2026: Promptwatch added visitor analytics to its agency plans: 500,000 monthly page hits on Kick-off, 2 million on Growth and 15 million on Scale.
  • October 2, 2026: Promptwatch made Codex and Claude Code available as tracked models for every customer.

Where the Two Tools Are Headed in 2027 and Beyond

Promptwatch: Promptwatch kept adding features to existing plans in 2026. It opened the Content Agent to all plans on July 28, country-level tracking to every paid plan on September 9 and visitor analytics to agency plans on September 23, and on October 2 it added Codex and Claude Code as tracked models for every customer.

OtterlyAI: OtterlyAI launched Recommendations on all plans on April 16, 2026, a Public API on May 27 and an MCP server on June 8. It added Claude as a tracked engine on June 22 as a paid add-on rather than a plan feature, and launched Agent Analytics for AI crawler and agent traffic on Standard plans and above on August 4.

So if you are choosing between them, count the prompts and assistants you actually need, then price both tools on that exact setup.

Data Collection and Methodology

Prices and plan details come from each vendor's pricing, plan and help pages as of October 8, 2026. All prices are list prices in US dollars per month before tax, billed monthly unless the row says otherwise. A "prompt" is one question the tool asks the AI engines, and Promptwatch also caps "responses," where one prompt answered once by one model is one response.

OtterlyAI's pricing page lists multi-country support for 50 or more countries, while its help center says 65 or more. Promptwatch's pricing page lists OpenCode among its 11 models, while its October 2, 2026 changelog entry names Codex.

Both vendors publish three self-serve plans with prices and a custom tier above them. Promptwatch also publishes three agency plans. OtterlyAI's engine coverage depends on paid add-ons, and the add-on price rises with the plan.

Promptwatch's response caps match 30 days of daily tracking on four models. Essential's 50 prompts x 4 models x 30 days come to 6,000 responses.

OtterlyAI's add-on engine packages cover up to 1,000 prompts.
