Bryan Clark

VP, Editorial

Graphite

Bryan Clark is vice president of editorial at Graphite, the growth agency known for SEO and content work for software brands, where he has run the content organization since 2021. Before that he was a technology journalist, including several years as managing editor of The Next Web, and he describes himself as having written for The New York Times and Wired. He lives in St. Louis, Missouri, and writes the newsletter Quibbly.

Managing Editor at The Next Web

His byline runs through years of The Next Web coverage of consumer technology, social media, and the news business, with later pieces filed as a freelancer into 2020. In an April 2017 column on whether publicists deserve their poor reputation with reporters, he weighed in on a public argument between two publicists and described an inbox that took in hundreds of pitches a day. "There are good PR people. There just aren't many," he wrote, and said he set up a separate filter for the few publicists whose pitches were worth reading.

Leading Editorial at Graphite

He joined Graphite in January 2021 as vice president of editorial. In that role he sets editorial strategy, manages the writers, editors, and directors who produce client content, and works alongside the agency's SEO and client services teams.

He has since returned to writing under his own name with Quibbly, which he calls "systems journalism about why things fail exactly the way they were designed to." In a 2026 LinkedIn post he explained the move away from news: "I left daily journalism because I got tired of stories that ended when the hype cycle did."
